GUIDED TOUR OF SKOCJAN CAVES

On Sunday 28th May, in the morning, we have the opportunity to visit the Škocjan Caves Park, Slovenia, near Trieste.
The Škocjan Caves were entered on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites in 1986.
Ranking among the most important caves in the world, the Škocjan Caves represent the most significant underground phenomena in both the Karst region and Slovenia.
Archaeological research has shown that people lived in the caves and the surrounding area in prehistoric times – from the Mesolithic, the Neolithic, the Bronze and Iron Ages through Antiquity and the Middle Ages to the present; altogether for more than 5,000 years!

Tickets are for free, because on that day there is the special annual festival.

The School will offer a guided tour outside of the caves, with a geologist explaning the main characteristics of this incredible area of Slovenia, so close to Trieste.

Nearby the Caves there is a nice place for a quick lunch before leaving, with traditional Karst dishes.
